Darcy Chapman Wins HousingWire’s 2021 Rising Star Award

Congratulations, Darcy Chapman, Auction.com vice president of strategic partnerships, for being named a 2021 HousingWire Rising star. This coveted award is given to industry leaders who help move the market forward.

“I am incredibly honored to have been selected for the Rising Star Award this year,” Chapman said. “It’s quite humbling to be recognized among so many talented and ambitious peers. I’ve never been one to settle for mediocrity and I am excited to be an integral part of the future for both Auction.com and our industry. It’s easy to hustle when you’re part of a great team.”

Joining Auction.com in November 2019, Chapman wasn’t intimidated by the huge task before her. During a pandemic, she needed to manage and build a book of clients in a challenging remote environment. Not only did Darcy grow her client base — she has won the confidence and trust of her peers and many across the auction industry.

Chapman was in the mortgagee hazard insurance business for 15 years before joining Auction.com. But that didn’t stop her from making quick, meaningful contributions. For one client she took on early in her tenure with Auction.com, she ensured superior performance in a noticeably short period. For another client, she was able to help optimize an auction sales strategy that resulted in a meaningful sales lift for the servicer.

“Darcy is the ideal candidate for the Rising Star Award,” said Auction.com CEO Jason Allnutt. “She is a rockstar in our organization today and will be an industry icon as her star rises.”

Social Responsibility and Community Service

As a former foster mom, Chapman is aware of the harmful effects of food insecurity. In a recent Auction.com fundraising campaign for Feeding America, she was the event’s highest fund raiser. She and her husband support a local Dallas charity, Lil’ Warriors Foundation. This non-profit partners with communities to provide financial assistance for families with children battling critical medical challenges.

Recently, Chapman joined Auction.com’s Inclusion, Diversity, Engagement, and Awareness (IDEA) Council, electing to focus her efforts on social responsibility and community service.

Before working for Auction.com, Chapman helped lead the launch of Sterling Claims Management, a startup company for mortgagee hazard insurance claims management. She drove new business and managed clients while quickly growing the company’s client roster with just a two-person business development team. Today, Sterling is considered a leader among its peers. Also, Chapman has held senior client management positions at three companies, where she successfully retained existing clients and developed new business relationships. Her extensive sales and operations experience positions Chapman to create focused solutions for satisfied clients.

“What makes Darcy so effective is that she understands everything comes back to people,” said Auction.com colleague Mark Dmytrowitz, director, strategic performance management. “She has a special quality of leadership that people respond to. A few minutes spent with Darcy and you will know she cares about you and your success and that she turns that care into action. As hard as she works to create success for herself, she works harder to create it for others. Another reason Darcy’s star is on the rise is that she is not afraid to get her hands dirty. Darcy works hard to understand the details of any challenge and no task or work necessary to bring resolution is beneath her.”
