Initiative helps strengthen communities
Under Auction.com Cares, which is Auction.com’s giving initiative, the company recently donated $50,000 to Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit with a mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive. This is the first of two $50,000 monetary donations that Auction.com will make this year to them, putting its total monetary contribution to Operation Homefront at $500,000.
“We are proud to do our part to turn houses into homes and help this distinguished organization deliver them into the hands of military families that have sacrificed to strengthen our communities,” said Ali Haralson, who presented the check.
A History of giving
Since its founding in 2007, Auction.com has contributed time and money to myriad causes, including fighting cancer, Team Rubicon, Habitat for Humanity, various children and family services, and numerous organization that respond to national disasters all over the country.
Between 2016 and 2017, employees raised over $25,000, and the company donated $50,000 in matching contributions and donations. For example, Auction.com aided in relief efforts when deadly storms and floods hit Louisiana in 2016. Employees packed and delivered more than 1,000 school supply-filled backpacks to Team Comeback Kids, a flood relief school supply drive. During that same time, the company raised over $10,000 for Team Rubicon, a veteran’s organization that uses the unique and valuable skills of veterans to provide relief efforts worldwide.
Auction.com Cares
More recently, Auction.com has been donating to causes under the auspices of Auction.com Cares, the company’s philanthropic initiative that helps communities thrive by supporting programs in three areas of focus:
- Housing – The bricks of the community, homes supply shelter, safety and even financial stability for families. Auction.com Cares supports building quality, affordable homes.
- Neighborhoods – From helping to rebuilding homes, schools and other community infrastructure, Auction.com Cares re-energizes neighborhoods in need.
- Veterans – Veterans have served in part to keep the American dream of homeownership alive. Auction.com Cares supports our heroes because our communities thrive from their fortitude and sacrifice.
Auction.com’s latest contribution to the initiative came In May 2019. Auction.com was tournament sponsor of the VFSAC First Annual Golf Tournament and silent auction, with all proceeds going to Operation Homefront. Held in Frisco, Texas, the day’s events included a golf tournament, sponsorships and a silent auction, which raised over $200,000.
Over the last three years, Auction.com has donated almost $3.2 million to about 23 charities.
